What is the Reusable To-Go Container program?
Compostable to-go containers cost money and often end up in the landfill, which makes Reusable To-Go Containers are a great alternative! Using the Reusable To-Go program is an excellent way to reduce the amount of materials that are being sent to the landfill and reduce your carbon footprint. At this time, our Reusable To-Go Program is being offered at West End Market, Owens Food Court, Hokie Grill, and Turner Place.
How does the program work?
Step 1: Ordering to-go? Ask for your food in a free Reusable To-Go (R2G) container. Using your Hokie Passport, a R2G container will be checked out of your account, and you will receive an email confirming your transaction. You can check out up to three at one time.
Step 2: Take your food to go! Once you finish your food, please empty and rinse out your container.
Step 3: Bring your container to an OZZI machine in West End Market, Turner Place, Hokie Grill, or Owens Food Court and follow the instructions to return your container. If your container was returned successfully* you will receive a confirmation email.
*If you receive a token from the machine that means that the OZZI return station is not connected to the internet, which means your return has not been credited to your Hokie Passport account. In this case, the machine will dispense a token and you need to bring your token to a cashier in order to get credit for your return. If the machine is not operating properly (i.e. not turning on), please see a Manager for assistance in making your return.
Step 4: Repeat! Thanks for using the R2G program at Virginia Tech!
Please note: All students, faculty and staff can have up to three Reusable To-Go Containers checked out at one time. Any lost or unreturned containers will be charged to your account at the end of each semester at the same rate. If you want to use more than three Reusable To-Go containers at a time, you will be charged $3.50 flex or $7.00 cash per container.
