Culinary Camp Description

Do you have a budding chef or restaurateur looking for an exciting experience? Looking to grow your culinary skills so you can make more than just a dinner reservation? As you may have heard in the media, Virginia Tech students enjoy a wonderful dining experience during their time at college. We would like to share our award-winning skills with you and your family! There are four different camps to choose from.

Please note: All Culinary Camps are day camps, no overnight accommodations will be provided. For all youth camps, Camps will run from 9:00am-4:30pm each with pick-up and drop-off available from 8:30am - 5:00pm. Virginia Tech Dining Services will provide trained camp counselors to ensure the safety of your campers. All camps will require long periods of standing in a kitchen environment and campers will be expected to try all items prepared unless there are food allergy or intolerance concerns.

Culinary Camp 100

For students who are 10-14 years old. Virginia Tech Chefs will be teaching the basics, including cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and more. Culinary Camp 100 is scheduled for June 25 - June 29, 2018 or July 16 - July 20, 2018 and will cost $395. Click the link at the bottom of the page to register. Culinary Camp

Campers will:

  • gain hands-on culinary training;
  • learn to prepare different meals;
  • learn kitchen and food safety;
  • tour the kitchen facilities
  • learn about nutrition
  • and much, much more!

Culinary Camp 200

Dining Services will host a five-day day camp for students who are 13-18 years old. Virginia Tech Chefs will be teaching advanced cooking techniques, food safety, knife skills, and more.  Culinary Camp 200 is scheduled for July 9 - July 13, 2018 and will cost $395. Culinary Camp

Culinary Camp: Baking/Desserts Edition

  • learn about Baking Ingredients, equipment and culinary math.
  • Basic and Classical Cakes
  • Quick bread and yeast breads
  • Pastry and Chocolates
  • Individual Desserts

Culinary Camp: Food Truck Edition

Introducing the brand new Food Truck camp this summer! This five-day day camp is targeted for students who are 14-18 years old.  Campers will create menus and learn how to cook on one of Virginia Tech's state of the art food trucks. Campers will compete to see who can prepare, market, and serve the best dish during this week long camp.  Camp is scheduled July 30 - August 3, 2018 and will cost $395.

Registration and Payment for the Youth Camps

Each camp is $395/person and includes meals, a chef coat, and a chef hat. Full payment is due upon registering for the event.  If you need to cancel your registration, you will receive your payment back if you cancel by May 15. After that, no refunds will be given.
